Silas Weir Mitchell was born in Philadelphia, and after graduating from Brown University, moved to New York to begin his career. When he became impatient with the pace and quality of work he was being offered, he moved to Los Angeles. It paid off, as TV and film work started to come pretty steadily. In the last 10 years, Silas has racked up an impressive number of TV credits, appearing in well over a hundred episodes of various shows; he has also worked on numerous films. He has worked with Bruce Willis, Clint Eastwood, Burt Reynolds, Luke Perry, Malcolm McDowell, Tom Berenger, Scott Glenn, Dennis Franz, Kiefer Sutherland, Jerry Zucker, Peter Stormare, Patricia Arquette, Jason Lee, John Laroquette, Jaime King, (even Steven Seagal and JC Van Damme back in the day!). His varied roles have seen him thrown out of a hot air balloon (Rat Race), tossed from a galloping horse (Johnson County War), taped up and heaved into the trunk of a car (Fork in the Road), attacked by a set of chattering teeth (Quicksilver Highway), even caught wearing a live boa constrictor around his (naked!) waist (My Name Is Earl). After years of being browbeaten by every detective on TV, from Andy Sipowicz to Nash Bridges, Silas  wound up on ‘Prison Break’ and ‘My Name Is Earl’ at the same time. That led to a feature in TV Guide “cheering” him on. This site offers a small sample of his work to date... Just click on an image (let it load…) and press play. Enjoy!
